IMPROVEMENTS
1 Registration Fee: It was a mistake to combine the tournament entry fee with the function fee. This was autocratic and removed any choice in the matter from entrants. Some of them could not or may not have wanted to attend the function and the result was that money was unfairly taken from those who could not and did not attend the function. A better system would be to give entrants a choice, upon registration, to pay for only the tournament or for both the tournament and the function. The reception desk could have sold additional function tickets to players when they reported for their first tournament match.
2 Draws: When only 1 match was played in the first round, It was unfair not to offer the player who lost in the first round participation in the back draw with players who lost in the second round. An alternative system could be to enter more players in the first round and give byes to seeded players in the second round. At present the system prevents a decent player losing in the first round to beat weaker players who lost in the second round, thereby causing such a player to forfeit deserved points.
